Shiptron Trading BV is a specialized wholesaler of maritime communication and safety equipment, based in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands, and part of Shiptron Holding BV. The company focuses on the distribution of high-quality products such as AIS systems, VHF radios, GMDSS equipment and emergency beacons. Shiptron represents leading brands including Ocean Signal, True Heading, Standard Horizon, AC Antennas, Actisense, Rhotheta and ShipModul for the professional marine trade in the Netherlands. History and development Shiptron was founded in 1987 and has since built a strong position within the maritime sector. Its activities initially focused on maritime communication (VHF radios), safety equipment, the GMDSS system (since the 1990s) and AIS applications (since 2003). In 2006, Shiptron began a collaboration with the Swedish company True Heading, a pioneer in AIS technology. This cooperation resulted in a joint venture, True Heading Nederland BV, aimed at promoting inland AIS within the Dutch inland shipping market, alongside Shiptron Marine Communication Specialists BV and Shiptron Radio Inspections BV. Since July 2020, Shiptron Trading BV has been fully owned by Shiptron Holding BV, following the acquisition of the shares previously held by True Heading AB. All activities, service and warranty operations have since continued under the name Shiptron Trading BV. Product portfolio and brands Shiptron is an official distributor of, among others: AIS systems and GNSS compasses from True Heading GMDSS emergency beacons and safety signalling equipment from Ocean Signal VHF radios from Standard Horizon (Japan) Maritime antennas from AC Antennas (Denmark) In addition, Shiptron supplies a wide range of other well-known brands in maritime communication equipment. Dealer network Shiptron maintains an extensive dealer network serving the maritime industry, watersports retailers and professional users. The company operates in both the commercial and recreational marine markets. Service and support Shiptron’s focus is on professional service, ensuring continuity, and delivering tailored solutions in maritime communication, safety and tracking. In addition to supplying the professional trade, the company positions itself as a knowledge centre within the maritime cluster, including offshore, oil & gas, wind energy, infrastructure and shipping. Shiptron Trading BV employs 9 staff members (including management) and acts as a knowledge partner for its dealers. Support ranges from sales assistance to after-sales service, maintenance and repairs. For this purpose, Shiptron operates its own well-equipped workshop with specially trained personnel. The head office is located at De Dolfijn 24, Enkhuizen, the Netherlands.
