The top address in Hamburg for valves and fittings since 1932 As a distributor and manufacturer of valves and fittings for shipbuilding and industry, sampling systems and industrial plants for nearly 85 years we are an experienced and long-standing partner for our customers. Our family-run company is now in its third generation. Still, we are guaranteeing our customers quality, flexibility, innovative approaches and solutions as well as reliability. We also like to look back to our beginnings these days. In line with the motto “better a small master than a big servant” Fritz Barthel founded his company Fritz Barthel Armaturen on 1st April 1932 in Hamburg-Altona. Before that, Fritz Barthel worked as an engineer for several years for a well-known shipyard as well as for a manufacturer for fittings in Hamburg. Thanks to this career the first orders and customers were various Hamburg and other North German shipyards. For the first few years, Fritz Barthel distributed his products from his own apartment with a basement storage – by bicycle. Through his many years of experience in shipbuilding and his lively spirit of invention Fritz Barthel enabled his company to adjust wishes of customers accordingly and meet their specific needs. With success: new market segments and fields of employment in the industry were opened. The quality of our products, the development of customised solutions and our services have given our company an excellent reputation – far beyond Hamburg borders, too. Today, our customers include many well-known German and international shipyards and industrial companies from a wide variety of sectors. To our customers as well as to our suppliers we maintain long-term partnerships – based on mutual trust and appreciation together with a reliable cooperation. In fact, long-term relationships with our customers and client are not just hallmarks of our work – they are rather an important value which is anchored in our company. Nowadays, more than 85 years after we were founded our family-run company employs around 90 staff members. Since 1932, our values did not change: quality, flexibility, innovative approaches and reliability are still pillars of our company and our day-to-day work. Moreover, we are constantly expanding our product range and adapt our products according to the requirements of the markets. Based on your or our drawings: we manufacture fittings that suit your individual needs. In addition, the comprehensive range of products we store is usually available ex stock. Approvals Quality is a must. We traditionally attach great importance to the utmost quality and safety in our products. That is why we introduced the ISO 9001 quality management assurance system in 1996, and considerably extended it in 2001 to take in PED (Modul H). Our welding licence was granted in accordance with PED. We also have approvals as a specialist welding operation in accordance with DIN EN ISO 3834-2 and DIN 2303, and we play an active part in various standardization committees and occupational injury insurance funds. Hardly a day goes by without fittings being approved on our premises by inspection organizations such as DNV GL, Lloyd’s Register EMEA, Bureau Veritas, Det Norske Veritas, BwB quality testing service, RINA, ABS and TÜV. Our quality management system undergoes fresh audits at regular intervals.
