Our Corporate Charity for 2011 is The Chauncy Maples Malawi Trust.

The Chauncy Maples Malawi Trust, a UK Charity, is raising £2m ($3.2m) to renovate Chauncy Maples, Africa’s oldest motor ship (built 1899 in Glasgow) for use as a primary health clinic. The ship will be renovated and refitted to enable her to serve 500,000 of the world’s poorest people who have little or no access to medicine and basic healthcare.

ShipServ is asking its community of 38,000 suppliers to support the project in a very practical way: helping to provide the parts and supplies the ship needs to begin helping the people of Malawi. ShipServ will be allocating advertising and marketing resources to promote the appeal on its online trading and sourcing services such as ShipServ TradeNet and ShipServ Pages. In addition all donators will be entered into a prize draw to win a trip to visit the Chauncy Maples in Malawi.
