Under the Spotlight: Donna Chan, VP Client Relations, Asia-Pacific

ANYONE who knows Donna, knows that by her very nature, she has a natural maternal presence that applies equally to both colleagues and clients and means that when a job needs doing she will ensure it gets done.

This stems from her extensive knowledge of both the ShipServ products and her 10 years of ShipServ experience in dealing with specialist implementation projects that require a diligent and industrious approach combined with a ‘can do’ attitude.

As VP of Client Relations for Asia-Pacific, Donna has become the ShipServ expert in ShipLink WebBuyer solutions , which provide small to medium shipping companies with a simple system to handle Purchase Orders and RFQs and allows them to use the TradeNet platform.

“We have seen a number of smaller companies in Asia, take this solution particularly as it is very quick to implement and can be up and running in a matter of days,” says Donna.

Donna is also the Client Relations liaison for Keppel Shipyard – see Buyer case study on P.4 – and has been instrumental in rolling out the ShipServ TradeNet solution to six  different yards in the Keppel group.

“Keppel is unique in that yards require quicker turnaround times for RFQs as they are up against strict project schedules and they also prefer to source from local suppliers, ” she says.

Donna joined ShipServ as part of the merger with iShipExchange, whom she joined in 2000 after obtaining two degrees from the University of Hawaii and University of Sydney.

When not knee-deep in tricky integrations or visiting one of the Keppel yards in Asia, Donna can be found on the dance floor in Hong Kong at one of the three dance classes she attends every week, but she says the majority of non-work time is spent ensuring her sons complete their homework on time, proving whether at work or at home, she never gives up that ‘mothering’ instinct!
