Launch of ‘Internet use in Shipping’ Survey 2011

In the late summer of 2010 we conducted and published a survey in conjunction with the leading marine technology blog, ShipCrunch to determine the how, when and why shipping professionals use the internet in their work and purchases.

The results available here, proved that the shipping industry was adopting internet business processes, but there were still obstacles – namely a lack of understanding and familiarity – which limited the use during a busy working day for shipowners, managers and suppliers.

The trend of increased social media usage in a business context was evident but not fully developed and there was some feeling that this was just a passing fad and not essential to marketing the business to existing and potential clients.

With the kind permission of ShipCrunch owner, Ryan Skinner, and using last year’s results as a basis we have decided to launch a new survey this year to gauge whether there has been any significant changes to the attitudes of buyers and suppliers and also to see how twelve months makes a difference to the use of social media and mobile apps.

The NEW survey can be found HERE and  will only take three minutes of your time  and we thank you in advance for your participation.

The results and the findings of the survey will be presented at our SmartShipping event next month and if you want to receive the report when it is published, please leave your email address on the last page and we will also enter you into a FREE PRIZE DRAW for one of three iPod Nanos.
