Former Head of Digital Media at Informa joins ShipServ

Mark Warner joins to accelerate growth of ShipServ Ad Network

LONDON, UK, 1 July, 2010 ShipServ, the leading maritime e-marketplace, today announced Mark Warner has joined ShipServ as Business Development Director, ShipServ Ad Network (SAN).

SAN is the first online advertising network dedicated exclusively to the maritime shipping industry and was launched at the ShipServ Connect10 Conference in May 2010. The concept of an online ad network is simple. It connects advertisers with relevant websites that have ad inventory to sell. A study by Comscore highlighted the recent phenomenal growth of vertical ad networks around the world with major advertisers turning to targeted ad networks for their marketing campaigns.  And whilst other business-to-business sectors have embraced the ad network model, SAN is the first to target the maritime industry.

Over the past few years ShipServ has built up the world’s largest maritime digital media sales team, selling listing and advertisements for its ShipServ Pages supplier directory. With SAN, that expertise is now being made available to any maritime publisher, website or blog looking for a way to increase ad sales.

And for advertisers SAN offers the chance to get on to some of the world’s leading maritime websites in an easy, painless way.

“I’m delighted to welcome Mark on board,” said Paul Ostergaard, Founder and CEO, ShipServ. “His appointment will assist us in accelerating our ad network business and is a clear indication of our commitment to offering world class digital advertising solutions for the maritime industry.”

Mark had previously been retained by ShipServ as a consultant, leading the set up and launch of SAN. Prior to that he spent 12 years at Informa Business Information (publishers of Lloyds List and others), holding the position of Head of Digital for the last five years and was responsible for the implementation of Digital Advertising solutions across 20 publications.

He began his career in Informa as a journalist for Lloyd’s List and has a degree in Maritime Business and an MSc in International Shipping and Logistics from the University of Plymouth.

Mark will work closely together with the ShipServ Ad Sales team in the Philippines as well as with publishers around the world.
