ShipServ launches first ever online advertising network for the maritime industry
Companies finally have a simpler way to reach and target maritime professionals through online advertising.
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, 11 May, 2010 – ShipServ, the leading maritime e-marketplace, today announced at its Connect10 Conference the launch of the ShipServ Ad Network, the first online advertising network dedicated exclusively to the maritime shipping industry.
The concept of an online ad network is simple. It connects advertisers with relevant websites that have ad inventory to sell. A study by Comscore highlighted the recent phenomenal growth of vertical ad networks around the world with major advertisers turning to targeted ad networks for their marketing campaigns. And whilst other business-to-business sectors have embraced the ad network model, ShipServ Ad Network (SAN) is the first to target the maritime industry.
Great for advertisers
SAN provides an extremely attractive way for companies to get their brand on to the very best shipping websites and e-newsletters, quickly and easily. That’s because ShipServ has partnered with some of the best websites in the industry and secured a large proportion of their available advertising spots (called inventory). That inventory is then aggregated through SAN for advertisers to purchase in one single order.
For an advertiser, SAN provides an audience reach that is unrivaled. Through its technology platform and unique targeting capabilities it has the ability to put relevant advertising in front of relevant web users, helping advertisers maximize their Return on Investment.
Over 20 publishers signed up for the launch of SAN, offering advertisers more than 20 million page impressions per month. These include Informa, SeaTrade, Maritime Executive, Marine Log and Shipper’s Voice.
“ShipServ Ad Network was a natural progression for us,” commented John Watton, Chief Marketing Officer, ShipServ. “We’ve built up digital media expertise over the last 4 years, providing advertising and listing products for our supplier directory, ShipServ Pages. We know what both publishers and advertisers want, so are now in a fantastic position to offer both sides an excellent deal.”
Great for publishers
SAN is great news for publishers – helping them turn web traffic and e-newsletter circulations into new revenue by selling advertising on their behalf. And even if a publisher already has an ad sales team, SAN helps extend media sales efforts by selling excess inventory or just by simply providing the publisher with more sales resources.
“As the publishers of a leading maritime business journal, we feel that the ShipServ Ad Network offers us an opportunity to monetize our digital inventory, and provide us with a new revenue stream,” said Brett Keil, Senior VP, Sales and Marketing for Maritime Executive. “We very much look forward to working with ShipServ, due to their technological abilities and brand recognition throughout the maritime world.”
SAN is not only able to support traditional banner and text ads on websites and eNewsletters, but also multimedia formats such as video, podcasting and webinars.
“As a provider of podcasting and video content, the ability to monetize these formats is critical and we’re delighted that this can be achieved by partnering with the ShipServ Ad Network” commented James Tweed, Founder, Coracle Online.
ShipServ and Adify
SAN is built on Adify, the premier Vertical Ad Network platform. Adify’s technology and services offer a complete system serving the needs of Network Builders such as ShipServ as well as advertisers, agencies, and publishers.
“We are delighted to welcome ShipServ as a new partner with Adify in the UK and across the globe.” commented Nick Reid, VP of Adify Platform Development and Adify Media UK. “By utilizing the Adify Network Builder, ShipServ is illustrating a forward thinking and innovative approach in the maritime industry, bringing together publishers and advertisers in what is a fragmented market.”
