Another Norwegian shipping company moves its ship supplies purchasing onto e-commerce solution.
Mowinckel Ship Management AS is managing the vessels owned by AS J Ludwig Mowinckels Rederi and partners – founded in 1898 by Johan Ludwig Mowinckel. Presently the fleet consists of 9 vessels – 7 tankers and 2 bulk carriers.
Under the terms of the deal, Mowinckel will subscribe to ShipServ TradeNet, the online ship supplies trading platform. TradeNet connects the buyers and sellers of ship supplies through a single, web based service.
TradeNet will enable Mowinckel to route their orders and request for quotes through a single, electronic connection to all of their suppliers, thereby reducing costs, eliminating errors and speeding up purchasing. Mowinckel use AMOS for purchasing and the roll-out of ShipServ will begin at the end of May according to the project plan.
“Mowinckel is a progressive shipping business company and after finishing other projects to make our business more efficient ShipServ is a good choice to streamline our purchasing process,” said Ove Berntzen, Managing Director, Mowinckel Ship Management AS.
In 2009 ShipServ helped its members save an estimated $400m and transformed the way they do business. Nearly 150 ship management companies now use TradeNet, connecting to thousands of suppliers worldwide.
