Newsletter April 2009 - Buyer Edition

Overcoming the Hurdles
Our CEO & Founder, Paul Ostergaard, has experienced virtually all the hurdles that typically stand in the way of e-commerce success. In fact, he has spotted the same hurdles coming up time and time again. (In some cases, these hurdles are even given as excuses for not adopting e-commerce in the first place.) So at the CMA Shipping 2009 Conference last month (and with a small injection of humour) Paul presented his five favorites and showed how they should no longer be an issue. Watch a video of his speech.

StatsWatch #2: Ramping up suppliers
Following the article introducing the ShipServ Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboard in our last newsletter, in this edition we look in more detail at the ‘e-enablement’ KPI. Read our article on this important metric and how you can improve it.

Looking to sell excess inventory?
The ShipServ Inventory Exchange (SIX) is a new service designed to help ship managers turn their excess or after sales inventory into hard cash. We’re currently looking for shipping companies looking to sell their excess inventory. Click here to read more.

Don’t cut out meals, cut out inefficiencies
Danish officers believe that shipping companies are cutting expenses so much at the moment that it makes the sailors’ life a misery. This is a typical response to tough times - cut out what you know and can put a saving on. Unfortunately though for many shipping companies there’s a whole host of other costs they just don’t know they incur. Read our article on the subject.
