Major Korean Maritime Supplier commits to a profitable future with ShipServ

Bosung Engineering expects customer service benefits through freeing up 150 man hours a month by integrating its sales order management system with ShipServ TradeNet

LONDON, UK, 20 April, 2009ShipServ, the leading maritime e-marketplace, today announced that it has gone live with an enhanced agreement with Bosung Engineering, a major spare part and equipment supplier based in Korea.

Bosung will become the first ShipServ Integrated Supplier in Korea, integrating their sales order management system with ShipServ TradeNet, the most popular ship supplies trading platform in the world. Established in 1980, Bosung have offices in Busan, Hamburg & Athens. The company is also a sales agent for Doosan Engines and 85% of their business comes from overseas shipping companies.

Bosung have been a ShipServ SmartSupplier since 2003. SmartSupplier is the TradeNet application that lets businesses manage all of their requests for quotes, purchase orders, confirmations and acknowledgements coming in from their customer base.

In 2008 the company facilitated over 15,000 transactions on TradeNet and it became clear that the volume of trade was such that further efficiencies were needed. Whilst SmartSupplier already eliminated the inefficiencies and inaccuracies present in passing emails and faxes back and forth with their customers, the Integrated Supplier capability eliminates the final step of re-keying orders from SmartSupplier into their sales order entry system. Bosung estimate this will free up 150 man hours a month, letting their sales team spend more time on serving customers, rather than managing paperwork.

“We were absolutely convinced of the benefits of moving to being an Integrated Supplier,” commented Mr. Yong-jin Kim, Managing Director, Bosung Engineering. “With this capability we can now drive even more savings into our business and improve the service to our customers.”

“With this agreement I’m absolutely delighted to welcome our first integrated supplier in Korea,” said Linda Ho McAfee, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, ShipServ. “We look forward to assisting Bosung with their desire to offer a higher value of service to their customers.”
