Newsletter February 2009 – Buyer Edition

Welcome to this first edition of the new and improved ShipServ newsletter. We haven’t thought of a good name for it yet and we’d like to enlist your help – see below!

Supplier trust and e-commerce
How can you build trust with suppliers when your only contact with them is online? This is an increasingly important issue as more and more maritime commerce shifts online. Read our article on the subject.

StatsWatch: A regular tour around KPIs and benchmarks
ShipServ makes a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboard available to TradeNet participants on a quarterly basis. Used properly, it can improve any company’s ship supply operations, as well as your relationships with trading partners. Read our article on the importance of KPIs and benchmarking – and how to put them to work.

We know that many of you look forward to our annual conference and are just dying to find out what’s happening this year. After many years of holding a one-off annual conference in Copenhagen in May, we’ve decided it’s about time we came to you! So during 2009 we’ll be holding four, smaller regional events – in Singapore, Japan, UK and the Americas. We hope that by coming to you, we’ll get to see more of you and engage on even more discussions! So watch out for our tour dates. Finally, for those of you in need of that trip to Copenhagen, we can confirm that Connect10 is already scheduled for 1-3 May, 2010. Email John Watton with any questions/comments.

Newsletter naming competition – win an iPod
You’ve probably already noticed that this newsletter doesn’t yet have a name. We’ve been racking our brains for a clever, snappy title for a couple of weeks now and in a stroke of genius decided to open it up to you.

So, we’d like you to submit (printable) names that you think would suit this newsletter. You can enter your ideas (as many as you like) here and the winning entry, selected by ShipServ’s CEO, Paul Ostergaard, will receive a brand new Apple iPod Nano in any one of nine marvellous colours of your choice. Please help!
Deadline is 27 February.
