German ship manager Vorsetzen (VBSK) joins ShipServ TradeNet

Vorsetzen Bereederungs- und Schiffahrtskontor GmbH & Co KG has selected ShipServ as its e-commerce provider. VBSK is part of the Schulte Group, one of the largest ship management groups in the world managing a fleet of more than 490 vessels.

The agreement will enable VBSK to use their ABS procurement system interface to trade electronically with all their suppliers worldwide via ShipServ’s e-marketplace, TradeNet.

The decision to implement e-commerce as part of the company’s purchasing strategy has long been on VBSK’s radar as the company expects a substantial fleet growth. The principal benefits expected from the integration to TradeNet are time savings as the order cycle will be shortened and re-typing processes will be eliminated, access to real-time KPI analysis and benchmarking which can be used in strategic decisions going forward.

Commenting on this, Henrik Hollesen, ShipServ’s Director of Sales said: “We are pleased to welcome VBSK to the ShipServ trading community. This agreement will strengthen ShipServ’s position and network within the German market. With 300 new vessels added to our e-marketplace within the last three months, 2006 will be another record-breaking year in the number of transactions carried out. We expect an annual trading volume of USD 700 million on TradeNet by the end of this year”.
