World’s largest RoRo Operator joins ShipServ
One of the world’s leading ro-ro operators, Grimaldi Group Naples, has become ShipServ’s 53rd member. They are also its first Italian shipping company client.
Grimaldi Group Naples, which includes Grimaldi Compagnia di Navigazione, Atlantica di Navigazione, INARME, Malta Motorways of the Sea and Atlantic Container Line, has 47 vessels with another 12 on order.
The Group is known for its very advanced purchasing organisation and procedures, which has enabled it to achieve substantial efficiencies over the years. Grimaldi is a long time user of SpecTec AMOS® Maintenance & Purchase system and it is the first SpecTec client to become a member of ShipServ TradeNet since SpecTec and ShipServ announced their new partnership in March.
“This initiative fits perfectly into our strategy to integrate ships and back office systems with e-commerce ventures in order to reach cost reduction, especially with regard to the passive cycle of purchasing, gaining additional value from KPI analysis and benchmarking ”, says Mr. Coletta, Head of Grimaldi’s Purchasing Dept, who has brought his procurement experience to Grimaldi from the aviation industry. “Shipping has been long behind other industries, but now it is finally catching up with the most technological advanced industries.”
Mr. Coletta has used his past experience to select the most professional and best developed solution in the market place, and this also explains why Amos at Grimaldi is one of the most advanced installations of its kind in shipping. He is planning to give lectures on his experience, first time at the IMPA-supported Marine Purchasing Seminar, 26-27 April in London .
It is expected that due to the highly developed interface (Amos e-commerce module) between SpecTec AMOS® and TradeNet, ShipServ’s e-commerce platform, Grimaldi will be switched on and trading two weeks from the start of the project.
Commenting on this, Mikael Weis, ShipServ’s Vice President of Client Relations said: “This shows the strength of our relationship with SpecTec. Over the past five years it has become increasingly easy for us to get new customers up and running in a short space of time, which makes the whole process more immediate and beneficial for them.”
