World’s largest Gas Shipping Company joins ShipServ

The world’s largest gas shipping company, Bergesen Worldwide Gas ASA, has joined ShipServ TradeNet adding 51 vessels to the 1,650 already signed up. A further five newbuildings are in the pipeline.

Bergesen Worldwide Gas ASA, part of the BW Group, will connect its JD Edwards purchasing system to TradeNet, ShipServ’s e-commerce platform, enabling it to access ShipServ’s wide range of suppliers.

With this contract ShipServ now has 54 shipping companies which between them own or manage almost 10% of the world’s deep-sea fleet.

“ShipServ’s extensive supplier list will enable us to increase substantially our electronic purchasing thereby simplifying our procurement processes”, says Tor-Egil Gjulem, Purchasing Manager of BW Gas.

“We are delighted to welcome Bergesen Worldwide Gas to our growing list of buyers.  Each new buyer, particularly substantial ones like Bergesen, increases the trading volumes of our suppliers helping them to keep their costs under control, which of course in turn benefits the buyer”, says Kim Skaarup, Chief Operating Officer of ShipServ.
