Dear Friend of ShipServ,

Greetings to those of you new who have been following us for some time and welcome to those of you new to ShipServ. I am pleased to say that we have been very active since our last publication. We have nearly doubled the number of ship-owners/managers to 37, controlling 943 ships, and more than doubled the number of suppliers on TradeNet to 450. Annually, more than 200,000 transactions are now being conducted via our solutions – and this number is growing rapidly. Think of all the faxes that are no longer being sent in our industry! We have also expanded to a truly global organization, with solid presence in Europe, Asia, and North America as a result of the merger with iShipExchange.

I want to thank you, the Friends of ShipServ, for making our steady progress possible through your support of e-commerce and commitment to improving the maritime supply chain. I trust the following information will provide you encouragement to continue striving for better Ship Supply Management – to the benefit of both owners and suppliers.


During the last two months ShipServ has added three major shipping companies to its customer list, OSG (UK), Westfal-Larsen (Norway), Aboitiz Jebsen (Philippines).

The supplier base has also significantly increased in all regions – Asia, Americas, and Europe/Middle East – to 450 in total. The volume of supplier trading activity has grown dramatically across the board. One notable example, International Paint recently announced it would be integrating its worldwide system with TradeNet.

The geographic spread of both buyers and suppliers demonstrates the power of the ShipServ merger with iShipExchange and the attractiveness of its wide-ranging customer base.

OSG represents the first integration with ABS SafeNet Maintenance & Purchase package. Westfal Larsen and Aboitiz Jebsen bring the number of integrations with Xantic’s Amos M&P to four with another two in the pipeline. In all ShipServ now has 27 working integrations with ten different purchasing systems.

ShipServ’s powerful integration strategy is built on the strength of the MTML standard, which was a key factor enabling it to switch two of these new customers from other systems as well as enabling the easy switch of iShipExchange’s customers onto the TradeNet platform.

ShipServ’s development team has been very active launching new products:

WEBLOGISTICS – ShipServ WebLogistics enables suppliers to provide delivery information straight into their customers’ purchasing systems, thereby improving service and saving time and money for both. WebLogistics benefits all logistics providers involved in the ship supply business including freight forwarders, NVOCs, port agents, ship suppliers etc. (see below IMPA Conference Report for information on GAC Marine Logistics, our first logistics customer).

WEBREPORTER – ShipServ TradeNet is designed to improve ship supply transaction and data management through increased efficiency and accuracy. With a volume of transactions also comes a need to summarize, analyze, and review. WebReporter helps shipping companies meet this need through a collection of reports that track RFQ’s, Quotes, and Orders. More than just a reporting tool, the reports are interactive. Zooms and click-through links allow the user to look deeper into specific transactions. Even integrated buyers may find that it provides information that augments/compliments what their existing offline systems currently produce.

WebReporter “Lite” will be accessible to all shipping companies who are members of TradeNet. The full WebReporter will be available as a new ShipServ module.

ShipServ will be exhibiting at the annual International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) conference. Stop by our stand and talk to us about the latest developments in ship supply management technology.

GAC, the world’s largest independent shipping and transport services provider, is our first logistics customer and exhibiting at the stand next to ours. Come by and ask us about how GAC Maritime Logistics will be able to offer to ShipServ’s customers a delivery service to over 700 ports around the world serviced by the GAC network on a “door-to-deck” basis i.e. from supplier’s factory to delivery on board ship even if it is anchored offshore.

Many of you have asked if the Lagaay/ShipServ cocktail party tradition will prevail. It will. This time we are celebrating the launch of Lagaay’s new ERP system and TradeNet integration and their ShipCat onboard catalogue solutions. Come join us at our stands (C22/C23) the 17th of September at 15.30 for a glass of champagne and an electronic ship supply experience.

Reports also indicate that the “Ship-Macs” may be returning. Watch for Mark Holford carrying a large bag.


ShipServ is exhibiting at the annual ISSA Convention. Paul Ostergaard, the CEO of ShipServ, will be speaking at the convention on “The 21st Century Ship Supplier”.

We will also be presenting a small scale ERP system specifically designed to meet the requirements of ship suppliers. The solution is based on Microsoft Business Solution’s Navision (formerly Attain) and comes with an out-of-the-box integration to ShipServ TradeNet. We look very much forward to presenting this solution at the convention.

Together with ShipServ, ISSA has launched an electronic version of the ISSA catalogue that works seamlessly with ShipLink, ShipServ’s onboard requisitioning software. The solution has already been sold in more than 3,500 examples and also offers an opportunity for all ISSA suppliers to facilitate their customers’ ordering process by adding their catalogue in the same electronic format with their own product numbers linked to the ISSA product codes. Come to our stand and we’ll tell you how you can easily place your own product data onboard your customers’ ships.
