Star Information Systems links to ShipServ
SIS and ShipServ increase e−commerce confidence
Star Information Systems and ShipServ have agreed to integrate their e-commerce solutions to provide a close connection between suppliers using ShipServ TradeNet and shipping companies using SISCommerce. Participating in the initial phase are three shipping companies including Odfjell and Norgas, and suppliers MAN B&W, Wärtsila, and Hamworthy. The intention is to provide this feature to all users of SISCommerce and TradeNet. In addition, ShipServ and SIS hope that this will encourage many others to join this value added service.
SISCommerce will be connected with ShipServ TradeNet using MTMLink, which provides secure authenticated and encrypted transmission as well as guaranteed delivery and receipt of documents.
The SIS view
SIS CEO, Per Anders Koien, states:
“Our ship-owner customers have been actively pursuing e-commerce as an efficiency tool for a long time. The challenge is now to allow the customers and the suppliers to trade through their preferred channels. We are confident that by integrating SISCommerce and TradeNet, we will contribute to the improvement of our customers’ supply chain and competitive advantage.”
The ShipServ view
Paul Ostergaard, CEO of ShipServ, says:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Star, who are known for their excellent software products. They bring to TradeNet a world-class group of ship-owners representing a potential addition of 400 ships to the fleet purchasing via TradeNet. We expect this to increase our current volume of 100,000 transactions per year by up to 50%. Therefore the reaction among our suppliers has been very positive.
